Skitouring course

The course focuses on movement in winter terrain, familiarization with equipment used in snowy mountains, basic movement on ski touring skis, ascending and descending in terrain, risk assessment, orientation and terrain reconnaissance, use of a compass and GPS, information about avalanches and avalanche hazards, procedures after being caught in an avalanche, use of avalanche transceivers, principles and rules of leading a tour, and first aid during mountain trips.

Prerequisites: basic downhill skiing technique and adequate physical fitness.
