Sustainability of sports events
The course focuses on the environmental impacts of sporting events in the context of their planning, execution, communication, and long-term sustainability. Its aim is to clarify and thoroughly analyze issues of sustainability and sustainable development, with particular attention to the specifics of the sports sector and event organization.
Participants will be introduced to strategies, procedures, and methods that help identify areas with the most significant environmental impact, while also gaining insight into solutions that reduce or eliminate these impacts and how to apply them in practice. Emphasis is placed on the ability to design and implement measures that support sustainable transport for participants, the use of environmentally friendly materials, and effective systems for waste sorting and recycling.
An integral part of the course is also the development of skills in communication and the engagement of participants, volunteers, and the public in environmentally responsible behaviour, including the prevention of greenwashing and the promotion of the circular economy.
The course offers expert knowledge and practical examples related to sustainability strategies, carbon footprint analysis of sports organizations, waste management, circular economy principles, and other related topics. It focuses on the practical aspects of organizing sporting events and provides solutions transferable across various sports disciplines and organizations.
